Kim McAbee Biography

You may already know her name, or maybe you've heard her referred to as the "Worlds only Buckarette." She's no stranger to country music fans, especially in Bakersfield California where she performs regularly with the legendary Buck Owens at his Crystal Palace. Her shows, which are broadcast live from the Crystal Palace on the internet, have introduced her to audiences nationwide. West Coast country radio has already fallen in love with her pristine vocals spiced with quick wit and humor.

It was when she met keyboard player and Buckaroo Jim Shaw at the beginning of her singing career that resulted to her performing with the legendary Buckaroo's. It had not only been a blessing but the root she needed to learn about Bakersfield's history and the opportunity to learn first hand about performing through a great Legend, Buck Owens. She has also performed with and opened for artist such as: Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Clint Black, Marty Stuart, Neil McCoy, Brad Paisley, Mark Wills, Dwight Yokum, Joe Nichols, Dierks Bently, Collin Raye and even the Late Keith Whitley.

While Kim was in town for CRS 37 in March, she made time to sit down with Country Weekly magazine to discuss her new album, "That's What I'm Talkin' About" and also a little bit about her time spent on stage performing with Buck Owens. Her feature article can be found in Country Weekly's April 24th issue.

The oldest of four girls, Kim was born in Fresno, CA. Her family moved to Bakersfield when Kim was only three. Growing up in the heart of the Bakersfield sound provided Kim with a country music education beyond anything that could be taught or read aboutshe's lived it and proves it with her first release

"That's What I'm Talkin' About," Kim McAbee's current project for the Soigne' record label, showcases McAbee's peppery style into perfect alignment with both up tempo songs as well as heart wrenching ballads. With her current single, "It's Just A Cup of Coffee," a simple musical arrangement allows her vocal ability to shine... a perfect way for McAbee to be introduced to country radio. Produced by Mike Johnson and Phil O'Donnell, "That's What I'm Talkin' About" is a mix of thoughtfully blended songs whose lyrics express life's journey. "I'll Still Be Waiting For You" was not only written by McAbee's mentor, Buck Owens, he even added his distinctive vocal to the track. "Barely" a song written by Nashville writers Max T. Barnes and Leslie Satcher displays McAbee's spicy side, dipping into an almost Cajun experience. Each song opens new insight into Kim McAbee's talent.

Kim McAbee has earned her share of recognition. She has been named as 'Top Female Vocalist' in Bakersfield and in Los Angeles. Her single, 'Make Believin' was awarded 'Single of the Year' by the California Country Music Association.

It was an experience of a lifetime when she was flown onto the Aircraft Carrier, USS Ranger as a part of the USO Gulf War Return Show, performing for over 4000 returning Marines.
